PrepressThe first step in the printing process is acquiring press-ready PDFs so we can begin making plates for the press. We know that uploading pre-press files for the first time can be a daunting task, so our skilled, on-staff support technicians will happily travel to your office to coach your employees on how to properly prepare and send your files. Our two state-of-the-art Computer-To-Plate (CTP) machines ensure fast, efficient timeline for your job, and our highly trained prepress technicians are ready to help 24 hours a day, Monday through Friday, if any issues arise.
PrintingOnce your job is plated, the plates travel to the press. Midway has heatset and coldset capabilities. In heatset printing, the inks are set on the paper by running the printed paper through an oven immediately after ink is applied. The oven will burn off the oil based solvents, then pass through a series of chilling rollers. When the waxes and resins of the ink are cooled down, they solidify. This is ideal for glossy paper stocks, such as those used in magazines, catalogs, inserts, flyers, brochures and more. With our coldset presses, we produce works on newsprint paper and other stocks that allow ink to dry through simultaneous evaporation and absorption into the paper. By having both heatset and coldset capabilities, Midway can handle all work in-house efficiently and cost-effectively. If you want to add a little extra shine to your cover, Midway also offers a high-gloss flood UV capability.
BinderyIn the bindery department, we collate your printed pages, then bind them (if necessary) and trim them to your specifications. Midway currently has perfect-binding and multiple saddle-stitch machines in-house.
Also within our bindery department, we can trim, fold, perforate, apply sticky labels, and shrink-wrap. We continue to expand our bindery department in order to provide our customers with more options and single-source convenience.
MailingIn addition to printing and binding, Midway also offers in-house mailing capabilities. Our mail department can process and execute simplified mailings, ink-jet addressing, inline ink-jet label addressing and laser-printed hand labels. We can also sort mail lists, work up postal paperwork for the Post Office and even help acquire mailing lists for our customers!
